— MAGNETIC DRIVE CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS

Sealless. Hermetically sealed.
Zero leakage.

MAGSON magnetic drive centrifugal pumps eliminate the shaft seal entirely, the primary failure point in conventional centrifugal pumps. A magnetic coupling transfers torque contactlessly through a hermetically sealed containment shell. No seal means no leakage path. Droplex is the authorised MAGSON channel partner across East Africa.

Magnetic Drive Pump

— THE OPERATING PRINCIPLE

How a magnetic drive
pump works.

  1. Motor drives the outer magnet
The motor shaft connects to an outer rotating drive magnet outside the containment shell.
  2. Magnetic coupling transfers torque contactlessly
The outer magnet drives an inner magnet through the containment shell wall; no physical contact, no shaft penetration.
  3. Inner magnet drives the impeller
The inner magnet, inside the sealed pump chamber, drives the impeller to move the fluid.
  4. Containment shell hermetically isolates the fluid
The pump chamber and drive are completely sealed. No shaft passes through. No seal to fail. No leakage path exists.
How the Magnetic Drive Pump Works

— KEY BENEFITS

Why plants specify
magnetic drive pumps.

1️⃣ Zero leakage

No shaft seal means no leakage path. Critical for toxic, hazardous, and high-value fluids where any leakage is a safety incident or a compliance failure.

2️⃣ Minimal maintenance

No dynamic seal to inspect, replace, or adjust. The primary maintenance driver in conventional pump installations is eliminated entirely.

3️⃣ ATEX certified options

MAGSON MML and MMT are available with ATEX certification for flammable and explosive media in hazardous area classifications.

4️⃣ Handles crystallizing media

No shaft seal to block or crystallise. MAGSON magnetic drive pumps handle crystallisation-prone fluids that destroy conventional sealed pumps rapidly.

5️⃣ Back-pullout design

From size BG4 upward, the entire drive assembly can be removed without dismantling the pump unit or breaking the pipework connection.

— THE MAGSON PRODUCT RANGE

Two material groups; plastic & stainless steel.
Eight models.

Select by material group first.

  1. Plastic for aggressive corrosive media
  2. Stainless steel for higher pressures, temperatures, or where plastic is not chemically suitable.

Droplex will specify the right model for your fluid, flow rate, and operating conditions.

1. MAGSON Plastics — PP / ETFE / PVDF

For highly corrosive acids, alkalis, solvents, and chemically demanding liquids. Suitable for crystallising media. MAGSON MA, MAS, MAU, MP, MPT.

Flow rates measured with water at 20°C at pump discharge port without accessories. Achievable flow rate in practice depends on fluid properties, application, and pump configuration.

2. MAGSON Stainless Steel

Suitale for higher pressures, higher temperatures, or where plastic materials reach their chemical limits. ATEX-certified versions are available. MAGSON MML, MMT.

Stainless steel is the standard. Hastelloy and titanium are available for specific media and process conditions. ATEX certification is available on MML and MMT pump models.

— TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Where MAGSON pumps
are specified

MAGSON magnetic drive pumps handle the fluids that sealed pumps cannot — and the applications where a seal failure is not an acceptable outcome.

MAGSON MA / MAS – PP/ETFE

Chemical Industry

Concentrated acids, alkalis, and corrosive solvents. Hermetically sealed with no shaft seal.

MAGSON MA – PP/ETFE

High-Volume Transfer

Flow rates up to 950 l/min on the MA BG7 — for high-volume chemical processes requiring sealless operation.

MAGSON MAS – SELF-PRIMING

Double-Walled Tanks

Self-priming from above the liquid level — for toxic or hazardous media in double-walled storage tanks.

MAGSON MA – PP/ETFE

Electroplating & Surface Treatment

Electroplating solutions, pickling baths, and anodising solutions. Corrosion-resistant in PP or ETFE.

MAGSON MML / MMT — ATEX

Petrochemicals

Flammable and corrosive media in hazardous areas. ATEX-certified MAGSON MML and MMT.

MAGSON MMT

High-Temperature Processes

Media up to 300°C. MAGSON MMT with stainless steel side-channel impeller for extreme temperature applications.

  1. mWs stands for Meter Wassersäule (German for meters of water column). It is a measurement of Lift: 1 mWs is the pressure needed to lift water vertically by 1 meter. Therefore, a pump with a max. head of 20 mWs can push water up to 20 meters high. ↩︎
